Wilckodontics
Rockwall & Paris, Texas

While there is nothing inherently wrong or embarrassing about wearing braces (in fact, it is one of the most common orthodontic treatments performed) the fact remains that many people feel a self conscious when it comes to braces. In addition to significantly altering the natural appearance of your smile, having braces also requires frequent maintenance and regular adjustments. Wilckodontics (Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics) is an innovative and increasingly popular alternative orthodontic treatment to traditional braces.

If you or your child require orthodontic support, but are concerned about the time and hassle involved with traditional braces, you may be a good candidate for Wilckodontics. Wilckodontics significantly reduces the length of orthodontic treatment time in straightening teeth this type of procedure is planned in conjunction with your treating orthodontist to ensure you the best result possible. To learn more about Wilckodontics or other services offered at our office, please refer to the following. Wilckodontics
Evaluation & Procedure

Before beginning the Wilckodontics procedure, we will administer a local anesthetic to ensure you experience minimal discomfort along with dental sedation, if necessary. We offer oral and IV sedation as an option if you might be nervous about the procedure or have concerns about the length of the procedure.

Once you are sufficiently numbed and comfortable, the Wilckodontics procedure will begin by removing part of the external surface of your alveolar bone in order to soften the bone and speed up the process of teeth reaching their ideal positions. Along with speeding up this orthodontic treatment time, frequently a bone graft will be placed as part of the procedure and will result in the volume of the alveolar bone increasing over time once the healing process is complete.

Following the Wilckodontics procedure, it may be necessary to arrange for a ride home if dental sedation is administered. We recommend this person be a family member or friend to care for you afterwards.  It is also normal to experience some pain and swelling after your procedure. Over the counter pain relieving medication like Ibuprofen and application of ice to the swollen or tender area for fifteen to twenty minute intervals is usually sufficient in managing pain and swelling. If pain medication or antibiotics are prescribed following your Wilckodontics procedure, take as prescribed until your prescription is done.

Wilckodontics
Benefits of Procedure

There are many reasons why Wilckodontics has become an increasingly popular treatment option and alternative to traditional braces, which includes the following:

  • Improved stability of teeth with long lasting results
  • Same results in far less time compared to traditional braces
  • Increases strength of alveolar bone
  • High success rate and low procedural risk
  • Eliminates or reduces the need for jaw surgery or tooth extraction
  • Softened jawbone results in movement of teeth to be less uncomfortable
  • Can be performed on most patients
  • Final result is a straight and healthy-looking smile

While there are numerous benefits to having the Wilckodontics procedure performed instead of pursuing other treatment options, the overwhelmingly biggest benefit that patients who have Wilckodontics done is how much faster orthodontic treatment can occur. The reduction in time required to straighten teeth is especially important to patients who are in middle school or high school. Oftentimes patients in this demographic will schedule this procedure towards the end of the school year or right at the beginning of summer. Scheduling the Wilckodontics procedure at this time allows them to become accustomed to wearing braces and reduces the total amount of time they have to wear braces in front of their peers, which can help reduce or eliminate feelings of anxiety of self-consciousness.

Wilckodontics
Am I A Good Candidate?

Although most patients are good candidates for Wilckodontics (provided all of your adult teeth have grown in), it will be necessary to schedule an initial consultation to determine if Wilckodontics is the optimal treatment option for you. Provided you are a viable candidate to have this procedure performed, Wilckodontics is highly recommended for younger patients who feel self-conscious about wearing braces, older patients (especially business professionals) who want straighter teeth but are concerned about the impact wearing braces as an adult may have on their professional career, or anyone whose life would benefit from straighter teeth, and for whom a faster treatment time is more valuable.

Wilckodontics
Costs associated

The cost of the Wilckodontics procedure will largely depend on how many teeth are to be treated, whether dental sedation is used, and if so, what kind and your dental insurance plan. It is also important to factor in the cost of the initial visit and any follow up appointments that may be necessary.

For patients who are covered under a dental insurance plan, although we are not in-network, we will gladly help prepare and file your claim to ensure you receive your maximum reimbursement. Payment is due in full on the day of treatment. We accept cash, check, Visa, Discover, Mastercard, and American Express. If you are concerned about the cost of receiving treatment, please know that we offer our patients Compassionate Finance, which offers a variety of payment solutions with fixed interest rates and manageable monthly payments and CareCredit®, which offers 24-month payment plans with zero interest, as well as low-interest financing for 24-60 months.

Non-surgical gum treatment using the Perioscope

We treat most cases of moderate to severe gum disease completely non-surgically by using the Perioscope. The Perioscope is a revolutionary, tiny camera that enables us to see deeply buried plaque and calculus deposits, that before the Perioscope would have required exploratory surgery to see. Using the Perioscope, we thoroughly remove these deposits with our scaling instruments.
